Researchers from several southeastern universities gathered in Columbia for the third
annual Carolinas Conflict Consortium, held March 3-4, 2022.
This event, co-organized by Assistant Professor Chelsea Estancona (UofSC) and Professor
James Igoe Walsh (University of North Carolina, Charlotte) brings together conflict
researchers from across the southeast U.S. to workshop and discuss their work in progress.
The 2022 conference included presentations about sanctions, peacekeeping, migration,
and election violence. UofSC doctoral student Sanghoon Park presented his work on
“Social Capital and the Success of Economic Sanctions” at the workshop.
Additional participating institutions included the University of Florida, Appalachian
State University, Georgia Tech, and Georgia State. The organizers look forward to
next year's conference, to be hosted at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.
