On February 22, Dr. Cherie Maestas, the Marshall A. Rauch Professor of Political Science at UNC Charlotte, visited the Political Science Research Workshop, where she presented her work to USC faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates. Her paper, titled "Who Spreads the Word? Political Emotion Regulation and Social Sharing of Political News," investigates the relationship between different individual approaches to political emotion and the probability that people will share political news on social media. Prof. Maestas' research sheds light on the ways in which political information spreads by helping to identify the likely conduits for such information.
