Research Focus
Matthew Nicol is currently a postdoc at the University of South Carolina. He graduated
at the University of York, where he earned a MPhys (Integrated masters in Physics),
a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) and a PhD in Physics.
His work is focused on the fundamental structure and interactions of hadrons. This
is done mostly through analysis of electroproduction experiments, in particular, the
Muon Scattering Experiment (MUSE) at the Paul Scherer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland.
Matthew works closely alongside Professor Steffen Strauch.
Other research interests include strangeness, where he is performing work on the scaling
behaviour of strangeness as well as the search for a very strange hexaquark at the
Jefferson Laboratory (JLAB).
