Internships

Internships are one of the best ways to learn outside the classroom. You'll gain valuable experience and learn from people already working in your field. Real-life experience gives you an advantage after graduation.

Poetry Initiative

Housed within the Department of English, the Poetry Initiative is a statewide organization that works with libraries, museums, schools, colleges, community organizations, and various other entities to promote and celebrate the reading, writing, and performing of poetry in the state of South Carolina. The Poetry Initiative offers a number of opportunities for graduate students in the English department to participate in the planning and staging of arts events, as well as to present their own work before an audience.

Internships and Co-Ops

Students who are interested in pursuing internships should visit the Internships and Co-ops page of the USC Career Centers website for information about how to find the right internship for you.

Academic Credit for Internships

Internship forms are available in the Undergraduate English office (Room 114, Welsh Humanities Office Building). The form must be completed by the supervising professor and then taken to the Undergraduate Office and the dean's office (Room 258, Gambrell Hall) for approval.
