| Training Name | Investigating Medical Neglect Cases |
| Training Description | This training will focus on investigating medical neglect cases using the definition in the Children’s Code as the guide, where there are concerns that there is a failure “to supply the child with adequate…health care though financially able to do so or offered financial or other reasonable means to do so and the failure to do so has caused or presents a substantial risk of causing physical or mental injury.” South Carolina law provides that "adequate health care" includes any medical or non-medical remedial health care permitted or authorized under state law. The training will cover techniques and guidance on how to evaluate the three main elements of a medical neglect case: “adequate,” “remedial health care,” and “has caused or presents a substantial risk of causing physical or mental injury. |
