New Student Checklist

Expand all1. Activate your Student Account

• Set up your account. (You will need the VIP ID from your acceptance letter to claim your account)
• Be sure to save your user name, user id, email and password. 
• Account Claiming for Admitted Students.

2. Explore your Financial Aid options

• Begin the financial aid process by completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).
• Be sure to add USC Union’s school code, 004927.
• Please note: Students starting in the fall semester must complete the 2020-21 application.

3. Complete your Math and Foreign Language Placements

• Completing your degree at the University of South Carolina will require math and foreign language courses. If you have not already completed these requirements, our placements will help determine which course(s) you need. These are not required for your first semester, but we encourage you to complete your placements this summer as you prepare for the upcoming academic year.

4. Register for Classes

• Schedule an appointment with an academic advisor.
• Register for classes through Self Service Carolina under the Student tab.
• Click here for course registration tutorials.

5. Register for Orientation

• Please register below for orientation. 
• If you desire a virtual orientation, please contact Brad Greer.
• Check in for each session will be in the Main Building located at 401 E Main Street

6. Submit your Final Transcripts 

• Once your final high school and/or college grades are posted, be sure to submit your official transcripts to our Admissions Office at comerae@mailbox.sc.edu.
• If you would like to confirm if these have been received, call 864-424-8056.

7. Verify your Citizenship Status

• If you haven’t already done so, complete your Citizenship verification form and send it to comerae@mailbox.sc.edu.
• If you would like to check your status, call 864-424-8056.

8. Provide proof of your Immunizations

• If you haven't uploaded your immunization information, please upload your immunization data to MyHealthSpace. 
• View a step-by-step tutorial about uploading your immunization information
• Watch a short video about uploading your immunization information

9. Verify your Residency Status

• If you haven’t already done so, complete your Residency verification form and send it to comerae@mailbox.sc.edu.
• You can also verify your residency status in Self Service Carolina under Admissions
