Permits

A permit is required for anyone parking on the Columbia campus.  Metered and hourly parking are also available, with no permit required. With so many options to choose from, you can keep it simple or customize a parking plan that works for your schedule.

While parking options vary slightly for students and faculty/staff, the following rules are in effect campus-wide:

  • a permit is required for anyone using campus parking.
  • faculty, staff and students are limited to one parking permit, with the exception of a motorcycle (MC) permit.
  • your permit is valid for your use only and only in the parking area(s) indicated.
  • your permit must be properly displayed.  Hang on your rear-view mirror with the front of the permit facing forward or on your dashboard facing up.

How to Purchase a Permit

Fee schedules and permit reference guides are available for students and faculty/staff to help you decide which permit is right for you.  Additional resources:

  • Online map displaying  the different parking areas.  This is a great way to see where the parkng areas are and which permits are required.
  • List of all USC parking areas

Once you have determined which permit you need, it can be purchased via your parking account.

Contact Parking Services via email or phone or visit our office in the Pendelton Street Garage for more information.

Replacing a Lost, Stolen or Damaged Permit

In order to replace a permit, a police report must be provided. A $40 permit replacement fee applies.

Transferring Your Permit

Remove your permit if:

  • a new permit is issued
  • vehicle ownership changes
  • your status changes in a way that will affect your parking assignment or the type of permit you have

Transfer your permit if you are driving a different vehicle than the one you originally registered. You will need to add the vehicle to your current permit via your parking account:

  • Login to your parking account.
  • On the top left menu, select permits then view your permits.
  • Click on your active permit number.
  • At the bottom of the screen, click on add vehicles to permit.
  • The next screen will display any vehicles that are not already associated with the permit.  You may add one of these or click on add a new vehicle.
