Many students face above average stress at one time or another during their time on campus. We can help you identify your stressors and find techniques that work for you to decrease stress.
Managing all of your commitments can make it difficult to find time to do things you need to do to stay well and thrive at UofSC. Wellness coaching provides you with education, support and encouragement to develop behaviors for a healthier lifestyle
Therapist Assisted Online (TAO) is a seven-week to nine-week program split into daily homework, weekly exercises of 30 – 40 minutes and a weekly 10 – 15 minute video consultation with a counselor.
Find encouragement, understanding and support from others facing similar issues. Students meet in groups of six to ten with one or two trained therapists.
Work one-on-one with a trained and licensed mental health provider to work toward growth and self-improvement in a safe and confidential environment.
Available for all intimate relationships regardless of sexual orientation or identity to help couples strengthen their relationships, address a specific concern or get pre-marital counseling. One partner must be an enrolled UofSC student eligible for counseling services.
Our providers can help with psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis and treatment recommendations for mental, emotional and behavioral conditions. If needed, psychiatrists can prescribe medications and arrange for ongoing monitoring and coordination with other healthcare professionals.
ThrivingCampus is a community-based referral program for students at the UofSC-Columbia campus to use when seeking a local provider for counseling or psychiatry services. Students are able to identify providers in the local area, view specific information on a provider’s practice and contact them for a potential appointment.
Our Counseling and Psychiatry Department provides essential therapy and emotional wellness services, but there may be some services that fall outside our scope of care.
