As a Capstone Scholar we ask that you complete these requirements each semester:
We want you connect with the Capstone Scholars community. You can fulfill this requirement in one of two ways:
- Take part in a Capstone Consultation. These are one-on-one meetings you schedule with your consultant, a staff member in our office who can hear how your semester has been going, talk about goals you might have, and connect you with other resources on campus.
- Attend one of our official Capstone events that happen throughout the semester. All of our official events can be found on our calendar.
We want you to be academically successful. You fulfill this requirement by maintaining a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
We want you to step outside your comfort zone and set a goal for yourself that challenges you in a meaningful way. You can fulfill this requirement in many ways. This will look differently for each one of you!
We require you to enroll in a University 101 section during your first semester at UofSC, preferably a section created specifically for Capstone Scholars. Certain majors might be required to take a special section or alternate course in place of UNIV101 (e.g. Engineering majors, Teaching Fellows, & nursing students), for which we make an exception.
Capstone Scholars must also have a university scholarship in order to be invited into the program. Please note that these scholarships are granted and revoked independently of our office, and more information about your standing with a scholarship can be found through the office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
