Capstone Scholars

Standards and Requirements

Capstone Scholars are driven, and we offer a variety of tools and support services to help keep them on the path that leads to achieving their goals.

C.A.P. Requirements

As a Capstone Scholar we ask that you complete these requirements each semester:

We want you connect with the Capstone Scholars and campus community. You can fulfill this requirement in by attending a Capstone Scholars event or a one-on-one meeting with staff (Capstone Consultation).

NOTE: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have eliminated this requirement for the 2020/2021 academic year. We still hope to see you at our events!  All of our official events can be found on our calendar. We are also happy to meet with you for a Capstone Consultation, but it's not required.

We want you to be academically successful. You fulfill this requirement by maintaining a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.

We want you to step outside your comfort zone and set a goal for yourself that challenges you in a meaningful way. You can fulfill this requirement in many ways. This will look differently for each one of you!

You can submit this through the Capstone Scholars organization on Blackboard.

Other Requirements

We require you to enroll in a University 101 section during your first semester at UofSC, preferably a section created specifically for Capstone Scholars. Certain majors might be required to take a special section or alternate course in place of UNIV101 (e.g. Engineering majors, Teaching Fellows, & nursing students), for which we make an exception.

Capstone Scholars must also have a university scholarship in order to be invited into the program. Please note that these scholarships are granted and revoked independently of our office, and more information about your standing with a scholarship can be found through the office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
