We believe students can find themselves by leading others. With a number of in-house
options, our students are able to hone their leadership skills while also giving back
to the Capstone Scholars Program and the Columbia community as a whole.
Student Leader Groups
From excursions with established Columbia volunteer organizations to trips out of
town, this group of scholars is committed to bringing service opportunities to students
in the Capstone Scholars Program. Come see how we have served others!
Capstone Scholars Leadership Program (CSLP)
This eight-week program occurs each spring semester during the evening. Capstone Scholars
Leadership Program (CSLP) is designed with emerging leaders in mind, typically first
and second year students. This course focuses on theories related to relational leadership
and provides opportunities to apply them to one’s everyday life. With assistance from
the staff and peer instructors, each student will also practice strategic thinking
by creating an action plan for an idea they would like to implement on campus or in
their organization! This course is for credit (1 hour), and students receive a certificate
upon completion. Any of our Scholars are welcome to apply in the fall.
