When I arrived at UofSC, I thought I wanted to become an interventional and diagnostic radiologist. However, my plans changed during my freshman year when I was introduced to the field of evolutionary genetics in Jeffry Dudycha’s ecology and evolution course. I later joined his lab to study the effects of spontaneous mutations and discovered a passion for research. Over the past three years, I have had the opportunity to conduct an independent project, present my results at conferences, and prepare a manuscript for publication. Along the way, my professors and mentors have guided and inspired me. I am forever thankful for the opportunities I have had to learn, grow and see the world during my time at South Carolina.

Future plans: Libby will attend the University of Michigan to pursue a doctorate in ecology and evolutionary biology.
