Congratulations to Dr. Anna Swartwood House, Assistant Professor of Art History, for receiving a Renaissance Society of America Samuel H. Kress Research Fellowship in Renaissance Art History, awarded to the best projects advancing knowledge of Renaissance studies. Professor Swartwood House will travel to Venice to examine a collection of Giovan Battista Cavalcaselle’s lively and detailed sketches, made in the 1850s, after the paintings of the Renaissance painter Antonello da Messina.
Professor Swartwood House's book, Antonello da Messina and the History of Art, is under contract with Routledge and is scheduled for release in 2021. Antonello da Messina (ca. 1430 - 1479) was an Italian painter from Messina, Sicily, active during the Early Italian Renaissance.
