Check out Dr. Dunatchik's new paper here! The paper examines how spouses’ earnings co-evolve over the course of marriage among different-sex couples. The findings reveal three distinct patterns of long-term gender equality in earnings among couples, which are highly stratified by couples’ socio-economic status. While socio-economically advantaged couples tend to follow egalitarian patterns characterized by joint earnings stability, less advantaged couples follow egalitarian patterns characterized by joint earnings instability. These results highlight the concentration of earnings stability within couples as an understudied dimension of homogamy.
