Epistemology of the Large Hadron Collider Project Renewed

The German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) have renewed the interdisciplinary research unit “The Epistemology of the Large Hadron Collider” for three more years with a funding total of approximately $2.6 million.  Faculty member Michael Stoeltzner is a co-PI on this project, and, and recent PhD Cristin Chall will work as a post-doc on the project.

The goal of this collaboration of philosophers, physicists, historians, and sociologists is to study the world’s largest research instrument, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN in Geneva, from a consistently interdisciplinary perspective.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
