Student Research Symposium: Call for Papers

The Graduate Students in Linguistics (GSLING) at the University of South Carolina are excited to announce that abstract submissions are now open for our annual Student Research Symposium. This year’s symposium will take place in the fall semester. It will be an in-person one-day event, held at the University of South Carolina, on Saturday, November 16th, 2024. This year’s theme, Language, Society, and Cognition, aims to highlight the interdisciplinary approaches to linguistics and language research. Our keynote speakers this year are prominent scholars in applied linguistics, Dr. Peter De Costa from Michigan State University and Dr. Olesya Kisselev from the University of South Carolina.

We invite abstract submissions from undergraduate and graduate students in language-related disciplines, including linguistics, anthropology, education, psychology, and philosophy. Paper presentations are 20 minutes long, followed by a 5-minute Q&A period.
