Submit Your Appeal
Following the date of your hearing, you will be granted five business days to submit your appeal.
Appealing Your Hearing
You can only appeal if:
-
A procedural error was committed that has significantly prejudiced the findings of the Hearing Council
-
New evidence which could not have been available at the time of the hearing AND would have a significant effect on the outcome of the case is now available.
Who reviews appeals?
Appeals are reviewed by different faculty and staff members depending on the type of case. The Committee on Academic Responsibility, a faculty group organized within the Faculty Senate, reviews Honor Code appeals. The Vice President of Student Affairs, or designee, reviews Code of Conduct appeals.
Reasons not to appeal
This appeal process focuses solely on appealing a decision made by the Carolina Judicial Council as a result of an alleged Code of Conduct or Honor Code violation. Reasons not to submit this appeal form include, but are not limited to:
- Disagreeing with the finding from your initial meeting with a conduct administrator
- Appealing decisions made outside of the scope of the Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity (ex: admissions decisions, grades, or parking violations)
