Memberships
Each membership option below will have a link to take you directly to your desired membership type. Membership fees are prorated throughout the term.

If you are enrolled in USC - Columbia during the current semester, you will have access to our facilities during all operational hours. You must have a physical CarolinaCard to access our facilities.
If you do not have a CarolinaCard (or you have issues with your current card), please contact the CarolinaCard Office.

* Incoming Graduate/Transfer/First Year Students: once you attend orientation, have a CarolinaCard, and are enrolled in fall classes, you can purchase a summer membership.
** Some majors (Nursing as an example) may not allow you to enroll in classes until August.

Early Bird memberships are available to be purchased at a discounted price by full-time faculty and staff, and retirees.
- An Early Bird membership entitles members to utilize the facility during the following
hours:
- Blatt PEC during all operational hours Monday - Friday.
- STWFC Monday - Thursday before 2 p.m.
- STWFC Friday - Sunday during all operating hours
- Holidays and breaks during all operational hours

- Early Bird Yearly Membership (August 14 to August 11, 2024) - $270
- Early Bird Summer Membership (May 6, 2024 to August 11, 2024) - $80
- Summer Memberships will be Full Memberships for all Faculty, Staff, & Retirees
Early Bird Payroll Deduction
- 9-month: $15 per pay period
- 12-month: $11.25 per pay period

A current membership to the USC Alumni Association is required for prospective alumni members. Once a USC Alumni Association membership is purchased, a Campus Recreation Alumni membership can be bought. Once a Campus Recreation Alumni membership is purchased, you will receive confirmation and information on how to purchase an Alumni CarolinaCard (from the CarolinaCard office for a fee of $35.00).
You must have a physical CarolinaCard to gain access to our facilities.

The STWFC is the best fitness facility I have ever used by far. The equipment is high quality, the facility itself is spacious and versatile, and there is good camaraderie among the early bird regulars, all of which help to create an excellent environment for fitness activities.

Membership FAQ
While we have loved providing what we feel is an integral service to the University of South Carolina community, the financial stress caused by the pandemic and other factors has required a change to the function of the Blatt PE Center (PEC). The PEC is an auxiliary function and unfortunately is no longer receiving state or University funds or subsidies, and after a significant reduction in funds, is funded primarily by student fees.
With the annual increase in the cost of operation, as well as a continued need to update and upgrade facilities and equipment, to keep the PEC open we must ask our users to contribute to the cost of operation. Over the past three decades the university has faced similar situations several times and services have had to be reduced or eliminated, hours of operation reduced or closed, among other strategies. The hard reality is that we just do not have the funds to subsidize this service any longer.
For as little as $20 per month your membership will allow you access to two facilities, new and expanded fitness offerings, an indoor and outdoor pool, rock wall, and other opportunities. We are committed to helping the USC community stay active and strong and hope that you will continue to utilize Campus Recreation facilities, programs, and services.
Campus Recreation members MUST use their own physical CarolinaCard to access our facilities.
Students, Faculty, Staff, and Retirees should already have a CarolinaCard through the university.
Alumni should refer to their section above for questions on how to get their CarolinaCard. Spouses will work with their partners/CarolinaCard Office to acquire their CarolinaCard.
Our memberships align with the University Academic Calendar and can be purchased at any time.
- Annual Memberships
- Memberships will be available for the 2023-2024 Academic Year on July 31, 2023.
- Expires on August 11, 2024 (2024-2025)
- Semester Memberships
- Fall: Begins August 14 and expires on December 31, 2023 (2023-2024)
- Spring: Begins January 1, 2024 and expires on May 5, 2024 (2023-2024)
- Summer: Begins Begins May 6, 2024 and expires August 11, 2024 (2023-2024)

Early Bird members can access our facilities during the following:

- Mon. - Thu.: 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
- Fri. - Sun.: Full Access during operational hours
- University Holidays/Breaks/Summer: Full access during operational hours

- Full Access during operational hours
Full members can access our facilities during all operational hours.
Current faculty and staff will have an available option at checkout on the online store. Short term memberships (semester or summer) will not be eligible for payroll deduction.

Memberships to the STWFC are non-transferable, non-refundable and membership fees are subject to change.
Facilities and services will be available on a regular basis; However, they may be discontinued for a given period because of directives from the university, major maintenance projects, or unforeseen circumstances.
