Support, Investigation and Victim Advocacy

UofSC Police Department

Phone: 803-777-4215

UofSC police can help connect a survivor with an advocate, take a report, transport a survivor to the hospital and assist him or her with obtaining a court-issued restraining order/order of protection. Reporting an assault is not the same as prosecuting it. The decision to pursue legal action can be made later. Victims should consider preserving evidence by avoiding showering or cleaning themselves or their clothing.

Rights and Process Assistance

Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity

Phone: 803-777-4333

After a survivor reports an incident to the Title IX coordinator, the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs will conduct an investigation and work with the Office of Student Conduct and others to issue interim measures if necessary. If EOP determines there is sufficient information to suggest a Title IX violation, then Student Conduct will review the case and follow through with a finding and appropriate resolutions.

Title IX Coordinator / Equal Opportunity Programs

Phone: 803-777-3854

The Title IX coordinator monitors UofSC compliance with Title IX, a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender. Acts of sexual violence constitute sex discrimination prohibited by Title IX.
