Cancer Community Plans to Rally for Research

Provided by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, Inc.

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) and the University of South Carolina Colleges Against Cancer Chapter would like to invite you to attend a drop- by Research Rally and Send Off for Dr. Jan Eberth on Tuesday, August 29th in room 140 of the Discovery Building from 9:00am to 10:00am.

Earlier this year, the White House budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2018 included a $7.2 billion cut for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and a $1.2 billion cut for cancer research funded at the National Cancer Institute (NCI).  We need your voice to help us call on Congress to reject those cuts and instead increase funding at the NIH by $2 billion.

From now through the Fall, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees will be working on their respective budget bills. To ensure that the cancer voice is heard during this process, patients, survivors, and volunteers from across the country will be participating in rallies, signing petitions, and reaching out directly to their lawmakers.

Please join us on Tuesday, August 29th to sign the petition asking Congress to support cancer research funding.  This is also a great opportunity to encourage your colleague and friend Dr. Jan Eberth who will be representing you and South Carolina residents in Washington, DC this September during a lobby day hosted by ACS CAN asking Congress to support cancer research funding.

Refreshments will be served.
