eLearning Services Blackboard Workshops

eLearning Services supports UofSC faculty by providing training and personalized assistance for Blackboard and other academic technologies. Blackboard is a web-based Learning Management System designed to allow students and faculty to participate in classes delivered online or use online materials and activities to complement face-to-face teaching. Blackboard enables instructors to provide students with course materials, discussion boards, online testing, a live presentation platform, tools to make content more accessible, and more.

eLearning Services is offering Blackboard webinars to give new faculty the opportunity to see the academic technologies they will use to facilitate online or hybrid courses. New faculty members will view presentations and participate in Q&As so they can move forward in their course preparations with confidence.

Many of us teach 'large' synchronous online classes, with 'large' defined as classes with more than 250 students. In such cases, Blackboard Collaborate functionalities are somewhat restrictive. Despite Blackboard Collaborate restrictions, how can we teach such classes in ways that strive towards good student outcomes and high levels of student engagement?

This presentation will have two sub-parts. Initially, the presenter will share experiences from Fall 2020. Thereafter, the plan is to have an interactive session, with participants sharing ideas around how to improve student outcomes and maintain student engagement.  Register
