Adjunct Faculty Orientation

New USC adjunct faculty are invited to participate in a virtual 90 minute orientation session sponsored by the Center for Teaching Excellence and the Office of On Your Time Initiatives. The session will provide helpful information to any adjunct faculty member including:

  • Logistics, including the Blackboard learning management system, the Banner registration and grading system, and syllabus templates.
  • Tips for effective teaching, including active learning, experiential learning, effective assessment, and presentation styles.
  • Practical issues including academic integrity, managing attendance, dealing with disruptive students, technical support, parking, and navigating the university bureaucracy.

eLearning Services Blackboard Workshops

eLearning Services supports UofSC faculty by providing training and personalized assistance for Blackboard and other academic technologies. Blackboard is a web-based Learning Management System designed to allow students and faculty to participate in classes delivered online or use online materials and activities to complement face-to-face teaching. Blackboard enables instructors to provide students with course materials, discussion boards, online testing, a live presentation platform, tools to make content more accessible, and more.

eLearning Services is offering Blackboard webinars to give new faculty the opportunity to see the academic technologies they will use to facilitate online or hybrid courses. New faculty members will view presentations and participate in Q&As so they can move forward in their course preparations with confidence.
