The Professional Development (PD) Core provides coordinated training, mentorship, and career development resources that stregthen investigator capacity in clinical and translational research.
The PD Core supports investigators and research teams by advancing grantsmanship, fostering transdisciplinary collaboration, and providing structured mentoring and professional development. Working closely with the other ClinTrUSC cores, the PD Core helps investigators build the skills and networks necessary to develop competitive research proposals, conduct rigorous clinical and translational studies, and move innovative ideas toward external funding. Core activities support investigators throughout the research lifecycle, including mentorship, skills development, and opportunities for collaborative learning. Examples of PD Core activities include professional development programming and research-focused educational events, such as the ClinTrUSC seminar series, which provide investigators with opportunities to engage with experts and expand their research knowledge and skills. These efforts collectively strengthen the clinical and translational research workforce supported through ClinTrUSC.
