Community Engagement & Outreach Core

The Community Engagement and Outreach (CEO) Core provides the infrastructure that connects academic investigators with clinical and community partners across the Midlands of South Carolina. The CEO Core strengthens capacity for clinical and translational research by aligning health systems, community clinics, and university expertise into a coordinated network grounded in community-based participatory research (CBPR) principles.

Community Partners

Through collaboration with the University of South Carolina, Prisma Health, the Columbia VA Health Care System, and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), the CEO Core works to build sustainable clinical research capacity. This work prioritizes meaningful engagement with Midlands communities, ensuring that research reflects and responds to community health priorities.

Community & Professional Advisory Boards

Through the establishment of Community and Professional Advisory Boards, the CEO Core fosters trust, shared governance, and meaningful community engagement.

Community Advisory Board (CAB)
The Community Advisory Board promotes ongoing, bidirectional dialogue between ClinTrUSC and the communities it serves. The CAB provides guidance on inclusive engagement strategies, recruitment approaches, and community-informed research priorities. Membership reflects the diversity of the Midlands and may include representatives from local health departments, community health centers, civic organizations, educators, faith-based leaders, and community members with lived experience.

Professional Advisory Board (PAB)
The Professional Advisory Board provides strategic consultation to strengthen ClinTrUSC’s research, outreach, and implementation efforts. The PAB includes leaders from healthcare delivery and public health organizations, as well as practicing professionals engaged in clinical care and health focused research. Their expertise helps ensure that CEO Core activities align with operational realities across health systems while advancing rigorous and impactful translational science.
