Student Health and Well-Being

Changing Carolina Peer Leaders

Peer Leaders are undergraduate students from a variety of backgrounds and academic disciplines who have a passion for wellness and health education. Applications for new peers will open again in Fall 2024.

Who We Are

Changing Carolina Peer Leaders is a student-run organization that works to educate, advocate for, and engage with peers by connecting students to on-campus resources. Peer Leaders work toward inclusive and diverse programs on sexual health, healthy relationships, mental health, and general wellness to promote health equity for all members of the Carolina community.

What We Do

Peer educators give classroom presentations, design and facilitate campus-wide outreach events, and create health education content for social media on the following four topics:

  • General Wellness
  • Healthy Relationships
  • Mental Health
  • Sexual Health

Become a Peer Leader

Undergraduate students of all years and academic disciplines are eligible to apply to join the next cohort of Changing Carolina Peer Leaders. All new peers are required to take a 3 credit hour training course, HPEB301, after joining.

HPEB301 meets on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 1:15-2:30pm. Once accepted into the program, registration for this course is mandatory for new peers.

All peers are expected to attend the weekly meeting held on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm during the academic year.

Thank you for your interest in the Changing Carolina Peer Leaders (CCPL) program! CCPL recruitment occurs during the Fall semester annually. Applications are currently closed.

If you would like to be notified when applications open in Fall 2024, please email Molly Dunn at md67@mailbox.sc.edu with the subject line "CCPL Interest" to be added to our notification email list.
