The Federal Work Study Program provides students with financial need part-time employment to assist with the costs of postsecondary education. Hourly wages must not be less than the federal minimum wage. To receive FWS, a degree-seeking student should complete a FAFSA application to determine eligibility.
Office Assistants
These positions require students to perform basic clerical duties such as typing/word
processing, answering phones, assisting customers, photocopying, filing, distributing
campus mail, etc. Some positions require computer skills/knowledge.
Bookstore Assistant
This position requires students to operate a cash register, assist customers, price
and stock books, and assist staff with maintaining inventory and during registration.
Applicant may be asked to assist in general office duties such as typing, filing,
copying, answering the telephone, dusting, sweeping, and other duties as assigned.
This position prefers previous cashier experience and computer skills/knowledge.
Computer Assistant
This position requires maintenance of the computer lab. Simple computer management
is required as well as assisting students with computer use. Applicant must be dependable
and conscientious, and willing to work with others courteously. Desires to work with
computer-related equipment and perhaps achieve growth in the field. Work is completed
independently without close supervision. Computer literacy is required.
Library Assistant
This position requires assistance to library staff in all areas of library work. Duties
will include assisting patrons in finding information, retrieving magazine articles
from periodicals, etc., assisting with CD-ROM and online database searching, answering
the telephone, shelving library materials, assisting library patrons at the circulation
desk and other duties as assigned.
Community Service
The aide position requires general office work such as filing, answering telephones,
and moderate typing. In addition, applicant must provide childcare services for parents
during sessions and parent conferences. Preparing light refreshments before parenting
sessions, assisting parents in completing forms, attending to toys and books in the
lending library and other duties as assigned. The tutor position requires tutoring
children/families in reading and family literacy and other duties as assigned.
