There are unique challenges in being the first in your family to pursue a college
degree. As a middle school or high school student, you can start smoothing your path
to college years before you get there.
TRIO has two free programs that help prospective low-income and/or first-generation students in Richland County get a head start on planning for college.
Our advisors provide grade-specific services at some middle schools and high schools in Richland County. Students can attend a leadership conference or college fair or visit a cultural activity or campus to experience the many opportunities of higher education.
This pre-college program is for TRIO-eligible students attending high school in Richland County. Students can access extensive academic support including weekend and evening activities, a six-week summer residential program, and college placement services.
