Douglas E. Ray is Dean Emeritus of the St. Thomas University School of Law and the former Dean of the University of Toledo College of Law and the Widener University School of Law (Wilmington, DE and Harrisburg, PA.). Prior to his deanships, he taught at the University of Toledo and the University of Richmond, and practiced labor law with the Dorsey law firm in Minneapolis.

An honors graduate of the Harvard Law School and the University of Minnesota, he has published more than two dozen law journal articles on labor law, employment law, torts, and law school administration and is co-author of Ray, Sharpe and Strassfeld, Understanding Labor Law, and Ray, Cameron and Corbett, Labor-Management Relations: Strikes, Boycotts and Lockouts. In 2018-19, he served as U.S. National Reporter for the International Academy of Comparative Law’s global study of collective bargaining law.

Before law school, he served as an economist with the U.S. Department of Labor and served in the U.S. Army. He is also a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators.
