Why Study Global Strategy

To remain competitive in an ever-evolving global marketspace, working professionals today need to have a keen understanding of the economic, institutional and cultural differences across markets.

Designed for those looking to advance, the Global Strategy Graduate Certificate provides a strong foundation in critical thinking and problem solving with the opportunity to customize electives to suit future goals. Students will learn how to utilize global opportunities, assess risks and benefits of varying investment and locational choices and effectively manage company activities when an organization wants to grow beyond its current borders.


Academic Requirements

All candidates pursuing this certificate are required to complete four courses (12 credit hours) beyond the typical core coursework with a GPA of 3.0 or better across the four courses. Specific course requirements for the certificate vary depending on the program of enrollment.

Core Courses (6 credit hours)

Select two of the following courses:

  • IBUS 704: Comparative Corporate Governance
    or  DMSB 741: Comparative Institutional Systems

  • IBUS 705: Global Business Management
    or  DMSB 714: Managing the Multinational Enterprise
    or  IBUS 703: International Management

  • IBUS 706: National States, Regional Networks and Global Markets


Electives (6 credit hours)

Select two of the following courses:*

* Electives are subject to approval by the International Business Department Certificate Committee; students may request that other courses be substituted for the courses listed above. Relevant graduate coursework may apply towards Moore School graduate programs, subject to the associated Program Faculty Director review and approval. 


Who Should Apply

The program is open to current graduate students at the Darla Moore School of Business as well as working professionals and any interested members of the public who are not involved in degree programs. Those interested in global management careers with business, financial or nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply.

Current Moore School Graduate Students

Current graduate students need to complete a concurrent enrollment form. Contact your program director with any questions.

Non-Moore School Students / Non-Degree Seeking Students

Students who are not currently enrolled in a graduate program at the Darla Moore School of Business need to apply through the Graduate School at USC.
