School of Medicine Carolina Fund and Initiatives

A gift to the SOM Carolina Fund is the easiest way to support our most pressing day-to-day needs for students, faculty and staff.

School of Medicine Dean's Fund

Become a member of the Dean's Circle with an annual gift of $1,000 or more to support the Dean's top priorities and initiatives, from research to student programs.

SOMC Student Assistance Fund

The School of Medicine Columbia is committed to providing our students with the highest quality education and experience possible. The Student Assistance fund helps make that a reality by providing our students with all of the most important needs which include classroom resources, assistance with loans and financial aid and our new initiative, Cocky's Cupboard, that helps with food insecurities on our campus.

FoodShare South Carolina

The mission of FoodShare South Carolina is to enhance the quality of life in our state by providing access to fresh, affordable food, cooking instruction and food-based entrepreneurial opportunities.

Carol L. McMahon, MD, Diversity Scholarship Fund

Your gift to this fund supports scholarships for underrepresented students pursuing a medical degree.

Medical Library Enowment

Your gift keeps the School of Medicine Library and the students, faculty, health professionals and South Carolina citizens it serves on the cutting edge of health information and health care. Gifts may be designated for the purchase of books, journals, databases, technology, furnishings or rare book conservation and providing discretionary funds to help the library meet its annual strategic priorities.

Student Scholarships/Alumni Scholarship Fund

The average educational debt carried by our M.D. graduates is now approaching $200,000, with an annual in-state tuition at an all-time high of $40,860. Your gift enables us to attract the best and brightest students in our state and to provide scholarships, which can eliminate or drastically reduce financial burdens for our students.
