Go Gamecocks!
My first exposure to USC athletics was well before I even thought about applying for the Professional MBA program. I vividly remember taking in the atmosphere during the opening kickoff at Williams Brice Stadium in 2016 against a ranked Tennessee football squad, with “Sandstorm” blasting over the speakers. A few years later, I went to a women’s basketball game (ironically, also against the Volunteers). With the white rally towels waving inside an electric Colonial Life Arena atmosphere, I experienced another round of Gamecock tradition.
Living in Charlotte and being an active member of the garnet and black family has allowed me to take advantage of more USC sports action over the years. This past year, I went tailgating and sat in the south end zone watching Shane Beamer’s boys take a "W" over UNC-Charlotte in the fall. Also, I saw Dawn Staley’s ladies continue to assert their dominance with a resounding victory over Arkansas in January. Next up on my docket: Gamecock baseball at Founders Park and ladies’ beach volleyball action at one of their three home tournaments.
I truly believe that attending at least one South Carolina sporting event helps uniquely enhance the experience as a PMBA student. I would be remiss if I didn’t advise you that if you have the time, check the schedule of all our men’s and women’s teams. Go to any matchup. Cheer on your fellow student athletes. And, win or lose, offer a health to Carolina with the thousands of other USC fans in attendance.
