Orientation
M1 Orientation will be July 15-17, 2024 from 8 AM - 5 PM each day. This is MANDATORY and lunch will be provided.
Whitecoat fittings and iPad pick up will be held on July 11th from 1pm to 4pm and July 12th from 9am to 12pm in the Rotunda. This is MANDATORY before the start of Orientation on July 15th.
Headshots will occur on the first day of M1 Orientation, July 15th.
Student Handbook
Access to the student handbook is coming soon. It will also be available to all current students in iBook format.
Fit Testing
M1 students will be FIT tested the afternoon of July 16. A depiction of acceptable/testable
facial hair in order to be FIT tested, which is required as an EMT student can be
found here. Previous FIT testing forms will not be accepted.
USC Email Address

Supplies
EMT Course
EMT Module is the first module of the M1 curriculum; attendance is required for each
activity session. Students will be actively participating in learning about the skills
of becoming an EMT, as well as internship hours on an ambulance as soon as the 3rd
day of class. Students will need to have purchased prior to the start of the course
tactical pants (blue or khaki only), solid black “workforce” shoe, black belt, and
stethoscope.
EMT Dress Code
Lecture only days – professional attire
Lecture & lab days – casual attire (no skirts, no crop tops, no hats, no open-toed shoes, no shorts inappropriate in length)
Field experience days – USC SOMG issued polo, course tactical pants (blue or khaki only), solid black “workforce” shoe, black belt, and stethoscope
Computer Requirements
Students must provide their own laptop computers. Please review our computer requirements and suggestions [pdf] for the best educational experience.
Stethoscope
Students will need to purchase their own stethoscopes prior to starting school. The only requirement is that the stethoscope must be 2-sided (bell & diaphragm). There is no need to spend hundreds of dollars on one. Consider purchasing the Littman Classic or Littman Cardiology III which usually cost $70 - $170. Anything in this price range will be sufficient.
White Coat
One white coat will be provided to each member of the class. You will be measured
for this at orientation. Your coat will be presented at the White Coat Ceremony on Sunday, September 22, 2024. If you wish to purchase an additional coat, you may
do so during orientation. Students, you can invite up to 12 guests.
Incoming Student Compliance Checklist
In myClinicalExchange (mCE), you will complete an Incoming Student Compliance Checklist which will collect information we need to complete your student profile, as well as provide a clear an organized way for you to have your immunization records approved for clearance.
You will need to complete all the items in the checklist prior to the start of M1 Orientation in July.
Onboarding
Onboarding will be managed by Prisma Health Student Affairs. All accepted students will receive an email in May from student.affairs@prismahealth.org for instructions on how to log into myClinical Exchange.
Immunizations
In myClinicalExhange (mCE), All USCSOM Greenville students are required to complete an Incoming Student Compliance Checklist which will collect information we need to complete your student profile, as well as provide a clear and organized way for you to have your immunization records approved for clearance. Please see the Prisma Health Student Affairs onboarding site for clarity on which records we require.
Clearance, State 1 must be completed by June 10, 2024
Clearance, State 2 must be completed by June 24, 2024
You will need to complete all the items in the checklist prior to the start of M1 Orientation in July.
Learning Hub
All students are required to complete Computer Based Training modules (CBT’s) annually. Please look for more information from Student Affairs on how to log in and complete trainings prior to Orientation.
Transcripts
Please submit a Final Official Transcript to the Office of Admissions for any course work that was not complete at the time of your AMCAS application submission. Final Transcripts should indicate your receipt of a degree (Bachelor's, Master’s, etc) if one was expected to be completed prior to matriculation. These can be mailed to:

July 1st is the deadline for Official Transcripts.
Background Check
Certiphi, Inc performs background checks on all of our accepted applicants. The email comes from “Student Edition, Certiphi” and has a subject line “Background Check Consent Request”. Please follow the instructions in the email to complete this process promptly.
Gym Membership
Students at USCSOMG are provided a PATH membership. This membership provides access to the Prisma Health Life Center as well as Greenville YMCA facilities. Please complete the Membership and Health History Form online.
Connect with Classmates
Join the USCSOMG Yard Sale group housed under the USC School of Medicine Greenville Facebook page. This is an internal platform used to list housing or find roommates, as well as find EMT gear, textbooks, and furniture from current students. Keep in mind that you must answer the membership question in order to be added to the group.
