Alumni
Our alumni pursue careers in the military and in civilian life. Regardless of their
chosen path, they are prepared to lead because of the rigorous training and academic
experience they receive in ROTC at South Carolina.
We invite all UofSC Army ROTC alumni to connect with the University of South Carolina
Alumni Association and its Veterans Alumni Council.
2LT Dajuan McDonald
Dajuan McDonald graduated in 2020 in the top 10 percent on the National Order of Merit.
He then entered the Basic Officer Leadership Course at Ft. Benning, Georgia. His long-term
goal is to work in Army Intelligence. “When they say ROTC is the best leadership course
you can take in college, I think it’s the truth.”
LG James M. Richardson
As deputy commander of the Army Futures Command, James Richardson helps prepare the
army for the future by assessing emerging threats and identifying solutions. He is
a master Army aviator who has commanded soldiers in combat on six occasions in Afghanistan
and Iraq. A native of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, he majored in experimental psychology
and earned his commission through Army ROTC at the University of South Carolina.
LTC (Retired) Andrea R. Williams
Andrea R. Williams joined the Gamecock Battalion while earning her master's degree
in education. She fulfilled several training roles at Army bases and managed the Army's
central issue facility at Camp Casey, Korea. She was one of two 1LT’s to take command
at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. LTC Williams retired from the U.S. Army in 2010,
but she now works for UofSC's Student Success Center, where she supports transfer
students and student veterans. "Army ROTC changed my life and provided me with a solid
foundation to build a career full of service and commitment."
