UHS Employee of the Month

The purpose of the Employee of the Month Program is to recognize UHS employees who exemplify outstanding patient and employee experiences through their work and supportive attitude. The Employee of the Month program is a monthly initiative active during the fall and spring semesters.  

Criteria

The nominee must be an active full-time or part-time employee and employed by UHS for the past calendar year. Nominees must not have any disciplinary actions within the last 6 months and must be approved by their supervisor prior to being named as the recipient of the award. Only current month nominations are valid. Nominations will not roll over to the next month, and employees cannot self-nominate.  

Attitude and Commitment

  • Dedicated to fulfilling job responsibilities and expectations
  • Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills
  • Consistently dependable and is punctual to work
  • Active involvement in committees, fairs, trainings, and other activities
  • Serves as a role model to others
  • Goes above and beyond the requirements of the job

Interpersonal Skills

  • Displays a helpful, cooperative, and positive attitude towards superiors and co-workers
  • Consistently friendly and available to others
  • Uses effective listening skills
  • Has a team player attitude

Work Performance

  • Knowledgeable of UHS policies and procedures
  • Accurately completes work assignments on time
  • Takes initiative
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities

Personal Traits

  • Maintains an appropriate and neat personal appearance and dress
  • Professional demeanor
  • Conscientious, honest, hard-working
  • Integrity, on and off the job
  • Provides service with a smile

Selection Process

All nominations received will be reviewed by the UHS Leadership Team and treated confidentially.  Each nomination will be graded according to a 5-point scale tallied to determine the nominee’s overall score.  The highest scoring nominee will be considered for the award. The winner will be announced the first week of each month.  

Award Includes

  • A certificate signed by the Interim Vice President of Health and Well-Being
  • Announced in the UHS internal newsletter
  • Inclusion in the Employee of the Month gallery of winners (plaque in the lobby)
  • Announced on UHS digital displays
  • “Employee of the Month” parking space in the Bull Street parking deck
  • Automatic consideration for Employee of the Year
