CarolinaCard

FAQs

Find answers to the most common questions about Mobile CarolinaCard, from setup and access to using your credential on and around campus.

Mobile credentials can be used for door access for buildings, offices and residence halls, purchasing meals at dining locations, purchasing items at the Campus Store, checking out books at the library, and much more.

USC is implementing a phased rollout of mobile credentials to ensure a seamless transition across campus.

Phase 1 focused on preparing the flagship campus by installing card readers and conducting beta testing, while Phase 2 enabled Mobile CarolinaCard access at high-traffic locations, including parking facilities, the library, recreation facilities, postal services, dining locations, offices, classrooms and residence halls. With these phases now complete, most of the campus and its highest-visited locations are equipped to accept mobile credentials.

As the Fall 2026 semester begins, the university is actively working through Phase 3, expanding mobile credential access to the remainder of campus and participating off-campus dining and retail locations. Phase 4 will extend Mobile CarolinaCard implementation to the university's system campuses, completing the university-wide rollout.

Most campus locations use tap-to-pay, while some services require a barcode scan. To access your barcode, open the Transact eAccounts app and sign in with your USC credentials. From your profile page, tap “More Information”, then select “Show Barcode.”
