SC-CAN: South Carolina’s Wireless Communications and Airborne Networking Collaboratory

This project aims at building a foundation for a wireless communication and networking laboratory at the University of South Carolina. The laboratory will be shared by the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. The other PIs are Dr. Guoan Wang (EE), Dr. Srihari Nelakuditi (CSE), and Dr. Wenyuan Xu (CSE). The primary equipment consists of four small rotorcraft unmanned aerial vehicles, their control stations, a vector signal generator, vector signal analyzer, and several (³8) software-defined radio platforms. This equipment will enable the PIs to conduct individual experiments in their research areas, as well as allow collaboration on larger networking projects. Expected project focus areas range from the physical to the network layer, with topics including re-configurable antenna design, air-to-ground channel modeling, PHY-aware wireless protocols, and wireless network security and dependability.

Project Period
