Project-Based Learning Add-on Endorsement

The following University of South Carolina online courses meet the current South Carolina add-on requirements for Project-Based Learning Endorsement:

Applications of Project-based Learning in Curriculum and Instruction  EDTE 741 – Applications of Project-based Learning in Curriculum and Instruction
Practicum in Project-based Learning  EDTE 742 – Practicum in Project-based Learning 

All three courses are available online. These courses will engage you in learning how to create and teach Project-Based Learning units that incorporate essential Project-Based Learning design elements. Through teaching and revising two Project-Based Learning units and observing experts engaged in Project-Based Learning, you will become more proficient in using this engaging student-centered instructional method.

If you are considering the add on endorsement in Project-based Learning, you might be interested in the 100% online M.Ed. in Teaching with a specialization in Project-Based Learning. If you are ready to pursue a doctorate degree, the Project-Based Learning endorsement can also be met through the 100% online Ed.D. with a STEM Education concentration.

In order to gain add-on endorsement in Project-Based Learning, in addition to completing the above course work with a grade of C or better, you must have:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher;
  2. Initial, Professional, or Alternative Route certificate at the early childhood, elementary, middle, secondary, or PK–12 level; 

Add-on certification is determined and granted by the South Carolina Department of Education. Prior to beginning coursework, it is recommended that teachers contact the South Carolina Department of Education to determine steps to add-on certification areas. Refer to the South Carolina Department of Education Guidelines and Requirements for Adding Certification Fields and Endorsements [pdf] for the most current add-on requirements as they are subject to change.
