A
South Carolina native, Gayle Douglas Johnson attended Columbia's
public schools and graduated from Dreher High School.
Johnson earned her bachelor's degree in economics at Winthrop
College and her master of education in higher education at the
University of South Carolina.
She has done additional graduate work in Educational Leadership
and Policy at USC.
Her research centers on distance education in library and information
science.
Johnson came to the college in 1984 as assistant to the dean
(Bill Summers), and was named assistant dean in 1993 by Fred
Roper and associate dean of the College of Mass Communications
and Information Studies by Charles Bierbauer in 2002. |
