The Office of New Student Orientation provides collaborative programs that facilitate the transition and engagement of new undergraduate students and their families to the intellectual, cultural and social environment at the University of South Carolina.
The Office of New Student Orientation will be the leader in the field of orientation, transition and retention programs. Through innovative initiatives, inclusive programs and leadership development opportunities, the Office of New Student Orientation will create an optimal learning environment that encourages student success and achievement.
In Summer 2020, New Student Orientation launched the "Tell Us About Yourself" Pre-Orientation Survey. The Pre-Orientation Survey combines common questions on academics, previous experiences, involvement, expectations, and concerns. This survey was administered prior to a student attending orientation and during their registration process. Due to the instrument having been developed prior to COVID-19, there are no questions regarding COVID-19. However, all responses were gathered after May 18, when virtual orientation was launched.
