Emergencies & After-Hour Crisis
If you or someone you know is considering self-harm or harming someone else, call 911 immediately.
Students, faculty and staff can call Counseling & Psychiatry at 803-777-5223 after hours to speak with a counselor about urgent concerns. Faculty and staff can call any time to share concerns about a student.
There are several ways students or faculty and staff can prioritize their mental health while at UofSC. Make an appointment online to see a counselor one-on-one, join a skill-building group counseling session or take advantage of preventive programs like wellness coaching that can teach you skills to better cope with life's challenges.
Knowing what to do when someone is in distress can be difficult. UofSC's mental health training programs help students, student groups, classes, faculty groups and staff learn to recognize suicide warning signs and who to contact in those situations.
