The building, originally built in 1855, is receiving an exterior restoration, including work to its Corinthian capitals atop its iconic columns.

The first free-standing college library in the United States is undergoing a full renovation to restore the building to how it looked in the early 1900s.

Four blocks of South Main Street, from the South Carolina Statehouse at Pendleton Street to Blossom Street, will narrow and utility lines will be buried as part of a streetscaping project.
