Biography

Shilpa Srinivasan, M.D., joined the faculty at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2006. Prior to her appointment to the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science, she completed a geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Srinivasan received her doctor of medicine at Albert Szent-Gyorgyi Medical University in Szeged, Hungary. She then served a residency in adult psychiatry at Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana where she was chief resident.

Before pursuing her fellowship in geriatric psychiatry, she was employed as a staff psychiatrist with the Satilla Community Service Board in Ware and Clinch County, Georgia. She also served as a consultant to Garden Gate Women's Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Program and WINGS Women's Outpatient Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program in Waycross, Georgia.

Her special interests are mental health issues in minority elderly, cross-cultural psychiatry, geriatric depression and clinical trials research.
