Biography

With an interest in integrative holistic approaches and a passion for collaborative work, Stephanie McLawhorn brings 20 years of experience to the field of speech-language pathology. 

She earned her undergraduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Columbia College and her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University. Over the course of her career, she has worked with a variety of populations from pediatrics to adults, in settings including acute, subacute, outpatient, home-health, school, skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities. Her comprehensive experience includes roles as rehabilitation manager, supervisor for graduate students and clinical fellows, and guest speaker in graduate and undergraduate speech-language pathology courses. 

Over the past fourteen years, she has served as a master’s level clinician with focus on evaluation and treatment of adults affected by stroke, traumatic brain injury, dementia and other disorders of neurological etiology. She recently became a Certified Dementia Practitioner and a Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional, which expands and enhances her focus on dementia care. She strongly values and pursues a collaborative, integrative, holistic approach among professionals to tailor evidence-based treatment plans to each patient. 

Outside of work, McLawhorn enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, three children and rescue dog.
