Biography
Kathie Janssen is a certified community health worker at USC Brain Health.
In her position, she conducts outreach in Richland and Lexington Counties.
Janssen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts at West Chester University in Pennsylvania after trying out special education and then voice with a guitar and piano minor.
While homeschooling her four daughters, Janssen managed a show barn in Mount Pleasant comprised of 30 horses and 75 students. Additionally, in her home, she cared for 14 guinea pigs, three chinchillas, seven rats, one gerbil, three dogs and one cat at that time.
An accomplished author, Janssen has published personal essays throughout the years in a variety of print and online magazines.
Janssen loves to knit and has recently mastered socks, which she says are nice to have because of their portability and the fact that she is on the road a lot.
