Biography

Celeste Blackmon is a Speech-Language Pathologist with USC Brain Health.

She has been working in the speech-language pathology field for 41 years.

Blackmon completed her bachelors in speech correction at Columbia College and her masters in communication disorders at the University of South Carolina.

Blackmon has experience assessing and treating speech, language, swallowing, voice and cognition with a wide variety of pediatric and adult populations. She has worked in settings including public schools, home health services, outpatient clinics, acute rehabilitation, acute care and neonatal intensive care units.

Throughout her career, Blackmon has enjoyed mentoring and working with aspiring Speech-Language Pathologists. She has served as clinical supervisor to graduate students at the University of South Carolina, SC State and Francis Marion University, and also to clinical fellows.

While working in the public school system, Blackmon served as lead speech therapist for Sumter School District 17. During that time, she also served on multiple South Carolina Department of Education committees working to develop procedures and policies for speech-language services for students.

Blackmon is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and the South Carolina Speech and Hearing Association (SCSHA), of which she is a past president. She is also a recipient of the SCSHA Honors of the Association Award.

Blackmon lives in Sumter with her husband. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, including her stepson, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren. Blackmon also enjoys reading and gardening.
