Concert Choir
The USC Concert Choir is a select SATB ensemble and requires an audition to participate.
If you love to sing, there is a choral ensemble for you at USC. Our choirs are open to every student at the university, regardless of major. From select, auditioned choirs to once-a-week ensembles, there is an opportunity for you to sing.
The choral ensembles perform throughout the year in musical styles ranging from early music to vocal jazz, with an emphasis on excellence in every choir. You will have opportunity to perform on and off campus, meet others with similar interests, and travel the world making great music.

USC's largest choir performs diverse repertoire from across time and place.
Carolina Alive is a vocal jazz ensemble of 12-16 singers chosen by audition.
The Gamecock Chorale is open to all tenors and basses regardless of major. Repertoire includes a variety of genres, from chant and classical works, to folk songs and a cappella arrangements. Members of the community are also welcome to sing.
The Garnet Chorale is open to all sopranos and altos regardless of major. Repertoire includes a variety of genres, from chant and classical works, to folk songs and a cappella arrangements. Members of the community are also welcome to sing.
The Graduate Vocal Ensemble is the primary performing choir for graduate conducting students. It is open to singers with professor approval.

In addition to the Chorales , other choral singing opportunities are available to community members. The Summer Chorus is open to community singers and students.
We are delighted to host the USC School of Music High School Vocal Arts Conference Saturday, September 28, 8:30 a.m. -5:00 p.m.
The USC Youth Choir returns! Tailored for students aged 9-14 with unchanged voices from across the SC Midlands, this choir goes beyond school and church settings to encourage students to continue to explore the art of choral music. Alicia W. Walker is director of choral studies. She conducts the Concert Choir and Gamecock Chorale, and supervises the graduate conducting program.
Jabarie Glass directs University Chorus and Garnet Chorale, and teaches choral music education and undergraduate conducting.
Aletha Jacobs directs Carolina Alive, USC’s vocal jazz ensemble. She has performed in every kind of venue, from playing and singing in bands, accompanying musicians and musicals, to performing with orchestras.
