Located in the USC School of Music, the Music Library's lending collection contains books, scores, print journals, audio and video recordings, and offers access to numerous music-related databases. Our archival collections can be viewed by appointment.

Video Camera Loans

Loan Rules

  • Faculty, staff and graduate students in the Music Department only
  • 2-day loans with 1 renewal allowed if no one is waiting (in person only)
  • Return to Music Library Circulation Desk
  • $10 per day for late returns

Borrower Responsibilities

  • Read and sign loan agreement
  • Report problems experienced during the loan
  • Pay repair or replacement costs for damage/loss
  • Erase data from SDHC card prior to return

Collection Development Policy
  •  Materials added to the collection include printed material such as monographs, serials, and musical scores, including full, piano-vocal, and study or miniature scores. Chamber works containing no more than nine total parts will be collected. Additional formats acquired include sound recordings, audio-visual material, and microform.
  • English, French, German, Italian, Latin, and Spanish. Materials in other languages will be considered and acquired selectively. For items consisting of musical notations, the language is of secondary importance. Audio-visual materials will be acquired without regard to language.
  • There are no chronological limits to the materials that may be collected.
  • Emphasis is on art music in the Western tradition. No geographical areas are excluded.
  • Dates of publication: Current and selective retrospective purchases.

 

Streaming Audio Reserves Requests

Faculty can request copies of digital audio files and have them uploaded to Blackboard. To request:

  • Email your course syllabus to henderrj@mailbox.sc.edu with CD call numbers and track numbers and/or Naxos items for streaming.
  • You can also provide your own legally purchased CDs to the Music Library.
  • In your Blackboard course, assign course builder status to Jen Wochner:
    1. Go to Users and Groups -- Users -- Find Users to Enroll
    2. Enter "wochnerj" as Username
    3. Change Role in dropdown to "Course Builder"
