My Time as an Ambassador: A Brief Memoir

Approximately one year ago, I received an email to apply for the Professional MBA ambassador pilot program. For those of you who know me, you know that a) I am a major introvert; b) I have a numbers brain, not a creative brain; and c) to this day, I still do not know what prompted me to fill out the application. How surprised I was when I learned I was selected to represent Charlotte!

Fast forward to May. I was hanging out with some other regional cohort members at a Knights minor league baseball game. I was reminiscing on how much being an ambassador helped me grow in the program — both personally and professionally. I never expected that my role would be fundamental in answering questions to prospective students during program learning sessions, in planning events for the Queen City group and in liaising between my region and the PMBA staff.

That is exactly what the Professional MBA is all about: pushing one’s limits past what they have known all throughout their own professional career and building skills in networking, leadership, analysis and strategic thinking. By enhancing how I led and networked with my regional cohort, I valued what being an ambassador meant both to me and for me. As the only returning ambassador for this year, I cannot wait to engage in newer, more exciting and bigger opportunities for both the program and the Charlotte cohort specifically.
