Baruch Institute researchers conduct studies throughout the world, however, our primary research site is the North Inlet Estuary. Our long-term (5 years or longer) and short-term coastal research since the 1970s has resulted in numerous databases.

Databases are organized topically: biological, chemical, geological and hydrological, and meteorological and tides. Condensed metadata are available for each database. These will be of assistance in determining if the database contains the data of interest. The original, more extensive metadata are automatically downloaded with each database. Some databases also have photographs and ancillary data. The data are available as Excel files and as Access files.

Tide data (tide gauge) are available as real-time (via the NOAA website) and as archived data. Real-time data from North Inlet include tide level, water quality, and weather. The monitoring data comprise regular measurements of 100 biotic and abiotic components since the late 1970s. These data were originally collected as part of the National Science Foundation's Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) program. From 1993 to the present, the National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) Program has continued the support of the North Inlet-Winyah Bay monitoring. Support for other research has been from various public and private entities and is noted in the specific metadata. In any publication using these data the Baruch Institute and the source of support should be included in the Acknowledgements.
