5 Reasons I'm Thankful to be a Gamecock

There are endless reasons why I'm thankful to be a Gamecock. Here are a few!

Author: Alivia Windom, Freshman, Computer Science

Being a Gamecock has been a great experience from the very first moment I stepped foot on campus. From the welcoming Gamecock community to the Southern hospitality, there are many reasons I’m thankful to call USC home. Here are just a few!

Academic Help

There are countless resources for students on campus! From the Writing Center to Supplemental Instruction Sessions offered by my individual classes – I can always find the academic help I need to improve my grades and to help me feel confident in my work!

Campus Safety

Safety is so important on our campus and it’s comforting to know that campus police are just a click or call away! Our campus has emergency blue lights all around campus that immediately contacts our officers when pressed. It’s the little things that matter most, and knowing that I can feel safe on the campus I call home is one of them.

Dining

Who doesn’t love food? I’m beyond thankful for the variety of different dining options on our campus (Late night snack? Yes, please!).  From Chick-fil-A, Panera and Einstein Bagels on campus to the Corner Blend just off campus (they take meal plan dollars!!), there is always something new to try! Even better: it’s all so yummy!

Football

I’ve never been a huge football girl ... but then I went to a Carolina football game! Saturdays at Williams-Brice  is much more than just a football game. It starts hours before getting ready with your best friends. Then, eating amazing food before walking into a breathtaking stadium. And don’t even get me started on Sandstorm! There truly is nothing better than being surrounded by your best friends and the Gamecock energy on gameday!

Friends

Everyone always says you will meet your best friends in college and I’m here to confirm that it’s true! USC has brought me some of the most genuine friends that I know will last a lifetime. There’s no better way to get through college than with a group of people that your extremely thankful for.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
