Understanding USC's Ticket and Reward System

As an incoming freshman, you should be excited to join the Gamecock student section! Here’s the rundown on how the points and reward systems work so that you can get tickets to all your favorite sporting events!

The Points System

At the beginning of each year, students are  assigned base points according to completed credit hours. Freshmen receive 3 points. In order to increase your point total, attend as many sporting events as you can! Non-conference football and basketball games will earn you 2 points each, while conference games will earn you 1 point. All other sporting events are worth 1 point unless we play Clemson – USC v. Clemson games are worth 2 points! The more events you attend, the more points you will earn and the more likely you will be to receive a student football ticket.

Football Tickets

The ticketing process for football games can be a little bit confusing your first time around. First, students have to request a ticket through the SC Rewards app. The window to request a ticket is from the Friday the week before the game to Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The requests are prioritized by reward points, so the more events you attend, the better off you will be!

Once you get notified that you have been awarded a ticket, you will then have to claim that ticket. The claiming period is from Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. to Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Remember, you do not have a student ticket until you have claimed one. After claiming your ticket, you can access it through the Student Rewards app. You will need the barcode ready to scan on gameday, so make sure your phone is fully charged!

Other Sporting Events

The ticketing process for other sporting events is pretty similar to football. For these games, though, tickets are available to students on a first-come, first-served basis. That means that tickets will be awarded to students in the order that they request to attend the game. The claiming period for these events begins on the 20th of the preceding month, so once the tickets are gone, they’re gone—be sure to plan ahead!

No Show Policy

Requesting and claiming a ticket ensures that you will have a spot at the game. If something occurs and you no longer plan to attend the game, you must cancel your ticket! For football, this deadline is Friday at 5:00 p.m. This ensures that your ticket can be reassigned to another student who wishes to attend the game. If you request and claim a ticket but do not attend the game, you will receive a penalty strike. Two penalty strikes in a single season will cause you to lose your ticketing privileges for the remainder of the season. Four penalty strikes during your time at USC may lead to your loss of student ticket privileges for the remainder of your academic career.

Going to sporting events is a great way to meet new people! If you’re excited to get involved on campus, attend as many games as you can. Not only will this increase your reward points, but it will also help support our student athletes!
