A Guide to Gamecock Gameday

Hopefully when you read this, it’s Saturday in South Carolina! Curious how gameday works for current students? If you are a new or prospective Gamecock, let us show you the ropes of gameday.

Student ticketing process

Students at University of South Carolina attend all sporting events for free! A week before the game, you receive an email with a link to request tickets for home football games. Tickets are awarded on a point basis and are earned by attending sporting events and seniority status. The Wednesday prior to a game, you receive a QR code ticket that is either in the Upper Deck or the Student Section in the Lower Deck. Save that ticket use to scan in on gameday!

Getting to the stadium

There are free shuttles that pick up students on Greene Street and take them to the stadium. I highly recommend this option because not only do you save money but also time since shuttles have exclusive access to closed roads.

Tailgating

There are so many options for tailgating! The first we recommend is the Tailgate on Greene Street! With free food and games, it’s perfect to get into the spirit before heading to the stadium. Once you get to the stadium, stop by Gamecock Park. Here you will find the Gamecock Walk, which is when the team and coaches parade into Williams-Brice Stadium before the game. You can’t miss it.

Heading into the game

If you are assigned a lower deck ticket, you need to enter through the student gate. If you have an upper-level ticket, you enter the Northeast corner gates. Make sure your phone is charged so you can scan your ticket. Security checks your clear bag, gives you a wristband and then you are good to go! Note, the lower deck student section doesn’t have assigned seats, but the upper level does. The doors to enter the game open two hours before, so you can go in early to get a good seat.

Traditions

You made it to the game! Let’s talk about the traditions you will want to know. You’ll see a rally towel on your seat, that is for our iconic hype song, "Sandstorm." Every time this song plays, the crowd goes crazy waving thire rally towels in the air. You should also learn our alma matter. It is okay to not know all the words, but you should know the last line “Here’s a health, Carolina, forever to thee.” At this line, everyone in the stadium stands up and extends an arm out and forms a "C" with their hands.

Your first Gameday as a gamecock is an experience you will remember forever, and we hope you have a blast. Go Gamecocks!
